The dedication and hard work of students studying GCSEs at East Coast College and Lowestoft Sixth Form College was celebrated today.
For many students their results will allow them to progress to the next stage of their learning at college, onto higher education or their chosen career.
Charlotte Stone studied GCSE Maths at East Coast College’s Great Yarmouth campus and achieved a grade 4 to allow her to progress to study Adult Nursing at the University of East Anglia. She said: “I’m overwhelmed and over the moon! I had a few tears, I’m really happy. I needed this to get into university and pursue my dream career. I got my English in November and my Level 3 in June, so this was the last thing.”
Nicki Sawyer also achieved a grace 4 GCSE in Maths studying at the college’s Lowestoft campus, and will now be progressing onto teacher training. She said: “I’ve had an incredible tutor. Having someone who cares to support you when you’re struggling and helps you believe you can do anything has made such a massive difference.”
Principal and Chief Executive Paul Padda said: “Congratulations to all our students who have passed their GCSE exams. For many of our students these results provide the chance to progress onto further college courses, university, or help them to apply for their dream job and we are proud that our college can help them on their journey.
“We would also like to congratulate all of the school leavers in the Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth area who collected their results today and will soon be starting the next stage of their academic journey. If anyone is still unsure of their next steps or would like further support after receiving their results, our friendly teams at East Coast College and Lowestoft Sixth Form are here to help and will work with you to support you in your next steps of learning. This might be A Levels, a further education course or on-the-job learning through an apprenticeship – whatever pathway you choose we will support you.”
