BA (Hons) Applied Care Practice (Adult Support Needs) [Progression Route]

The BA (Hons) Applied Care Practice (Adult Support Needs) Progression Route is relevant to practitioners working in social care, and also to those who manage provision in the public, private and voluntary sectors. The applied nature of the degree provides theoretical knowledge along with practical application related to social care in contemporary society. The programme has been developed to allow those in the social care sector to further develop existing skills. It provides opportunities for you to develop a broad range of practice skills, knowledge and understanding within key subject areas and to acquire and enhance your professional values. You are expected to be in paid or voluntary work in a relevant setting for at least 10 hours per week.

This Progression Route is a one-year course for those who hold a relevant Foundation or equivalent to gain a BA (Hons) degree.

Whist this is a full-time course, typically this course generally only requires 1-2 days on campus attendance, supported by self-directed study. This means you can continue to work alongside your studies and balance other commitments.

Modules you may study include:

  • Social Policy and Practice
  • Transitions and Lifespan Development
  • Developing Leadership in Practice
  • Negotiated Project

You can apply for this course on the University of Suffolk website to study at the East Coast College Great Yarmouth campus. Click ‘More Information’ to be taken to the full course and application page.

This course is due to move to The Place – our new university centre opening in Great Yarmouth town centre – in 2025!

Requirements

You will need to have achieved 240 credits from a relevant Foundation degree or equivalent and have paid or voluntary work in a relevant setting for at least 10 hours per week.
