The BSc (Hons) Applied Psychology is designed to help you develop an understanding of the theories that inform care and education service provision and will enhance your practice and career progression. The course is aimed at those with an interest in human development and behaviour, and who may be working in settings where they support children and/or adults.

You will learn to investigate questions, explore contemporary issues centred on people’s lives, and acquire the skills necessary to apply theory and research to the real world, giving you the context needed to put your skills to use in the workplace.

Whist this is a full-time course, typically this course generally only requires 1-2 days on campus attendance, supported by self-directed study.  This means you can continue to work alongside your studies and balance other commitments.

Modules you may study include:

  • The Psychology of Counselling
  • Cognitive Psychology: Basic Methodologies, Key Findings and Concepts
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • Early Social and Emotional Development
  • Clinical Approaches to Psychological Disorders
  • The Biological Bases of Behaviour
  • Health Psychology
  • Forensic Psychology

Please note that you will require a placement in Level 5 which you will need to source independent of the college.   Please be aware that depending on the organisation you may require some form of DBS check.  You will need to arrange this directly with the placement provider, and cover any costs involved.

You can apply for this course on the University of Suffolk website to study at the East Coast College Great Yarmouth campus. Click ‘More Information’ to be taken to the full course and application page.
