These entry grades are set as a guide, however we encourage students who are interested in this course and unsure of the grades they will achieve to submit an application and come along for a discussion with the course lecturer to assess your suitability.
Assessment
You will be assessed through a variety of methods including practical and theory. You will also benefit from industry speakers who can provide an insight into the real world environment.
Progression
You can progress into an apprenticeship or employment in careers such as a kitchen fitter, general site operative, teacher, wood machinist, joiner, window fitter, site carpenter, formwork or shuttering carpenter.
Former students have gone onto work within the industry or have even set up their own businesses. Many are now helping to train the workforce of the future as they have taken on apprentices of their own.
"We are proud to be working with East Coast College and the carpentry and bricklaying students to provide practical advice and skills and a chance to find out what it is like to work in the construction industry. The students we have on apprenticeship programmes with us are both hardworking and keen to learn, and are well supported by the college. We feel this is a mutually beneficial arrangement as the students gain valuable experience in the construction industry to support their college course."
