This development programme for students aged 16 to 18 is designed to support those with low entry grades or who have a learning need that requires a supported year before entering a mainstream vocational area.
The course will run for 16 hours per week and will cover personal development including communication and teamwork skills, as well as vocational practices in Automotive, Engineering and Welding, and English and Maths qualifications.
The desired outcome of the course is to prepare learners to progress onto other vocational programmes the following year or to find employment locally as an apprentice or trainee.
Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However, learners must have a genuine interest in the subject area and a desire to learn. Learners will also be required to complete an initial assessment to determine their current level of English and Maths.
Assessment
Assessment will be through a combination of coursework and exams. The assessments will be designed to test the learners’ understanding and application of the knowledge and skills covered in the course.
Progression
Successful completion of the course will enable learners to progress onto other vocational programmes next year or to find employment locally as an apprentice or trainee. This course will provide learners with the necessary skills and qualifications to succeed in their chosen field.
