Our course will help you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a successful engineer in today’s rapidly moving industry, with skills in both mechanical and electrical engineering.

You may get the chance to visit sites such as Bacton Gas Terminal and Sizewell nuclear power station, and away from the practical elements you will develop your general knowledge of maths and engineering through classroom sessions. You may also complete the Duke of Edinburgh bronze award or study towards silver and gold awards.

This will enhance your CV with a host of skills that have been identified as critical from our employer focus group. You will also have the opportunity to gain work experience with a host of local employers. This may be a work-based project, a four-week paid internship programme or a pre-apprenticeship work trial.

Requirements

For Level 2 entry, you will need to have achieved at least four GCSEs at grade 3 or above.

For Level 3 entry, you will need to have achieved a Grade 4 in English, maths and science (double award).

Assessment

You will be assessed via a range of methods to include assignments, presentations and online exams.

Progression

The final year of the course feeds directly into our Higher Education programme in Engineering, or you can progress to another university.

You can progress into an apprenticeship or employment in careers such as a electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, project engineer, chemical engineer, design engineer or maintenance engineer.
