Functional Maths is based around real-life situations that you might encounter day-to-day or at work.  Achieving in Functional Maths is a great qualification to put on your CV and it helps you work towards your C-grade/Level 4 in GCSE Maths.

You will learn to apply number and practical mathematical skills to both your personal life and vocational course.  You will also learn to use numbers confidently and learn to apply number skills to a variety of situations and solve problems.

Requirements

If you have previously achieved any grade below a D/Grade 3 in GCSE Maths, you may be eligible to complete Functional Skills Maths. The most appropriate level for you will be based on your initial assessment scores.

Assessment

All assessment is on demand and designed to be taken as soon as a learner is ready.

At all levels there is just a single assessment/exam. At Level 1 you can take the assessment either online or on paper. The Entry level assessments are on paper and there is a choice of topics.

Progression

You can move on to the next level which may be GCSE Maths. Achieving certain levels in Functional Maths will also help you to gain access to higher level courses.
