Course: Teaching Assistant Level 3

This course is ideal for those that have a passion for working with children and supporting them to succeed in both their academic and personal development.

You will need to be at least 19 years of age and have a good command of English and maths.

You will study 11 different units relating to supporting children in the classroom. You will study areas such as:

• Child development
• Safeguarding
• Behaviour
• Supporting maths, literacy and ICT
• Assessment

You will gain a CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning. This qualifies you to work in schools and colleges to support students and also as a cover supervisor, which means you can supervise some students and classes without a teacher present.

This course is run by highly experienced teachers and assessors. You will be supported to regain your study skills and guided to achieve your highest potential. As well as giving you a professional qualification, you will also raise your personal achievement levels and open yourself up to a wide variety of new opportunities.

This course is part-time and you will spend one morning per week in college and one day in a school.

If you are not currently employed in a school then you will need to arrange a voluntary placement for at least one full day per week. You will also need to complete a DBS check and this is usually arranged between yourself and your school.
