Discover your creative potential with our Adult Drawing short course.

Are you a budding artist looking to enhance your skills and explore your creativity? Maybe you are looking to reconnect with your earlier passion for the arts and want to build the core skills to further your current abilities, look no further than the upcoming Art and Design Award course.

This course is designed to provide you with an exciting and challenging experience that will introduce you to the rigours and rewards of exploring and working within the most fundamental of creative activities.

Designed for learners with no previous experience but who are eager to develop core drawing and painting skills, this course will allow you to explore and investigate a variety of techniques, mediums across sometimes unusual and quirky themes. From traditional observational drawing to design and colour theory, you will learn about artists, movements and build fundamental artistic knowledge to inform and develop your practice.

You will benefit from access to print studios, ceramics workshops, photographic and 3D workshops across two campuses which will support the creation of a wonderful portfolio of artwork supporting opportunities for progression to further art education.

Modules you may study include:

  • Drawing (Traditional Observational and Contemporary Experimental Mark Making)
  • Mediums (Charcoal, Pencil, Pastels, Acrylics, Oils and more)
  • Techniques (Colour theory, Printing, Photography and more)
  • Contextual Awareness (Art History)

This course will run at our Lowestoft Campus on Friday mornings alongside the UAL Art and Design Diploma Level 2 from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

The next intakes will be September to December, January to March and April to June.

Requirements

All students will need to provide a range of their own equipment, including a sketchbook, drawing and painting materials – a list will be provided.

Progression

After this course you could study Art and Design Diploma Level 2, Foundation in Art and Design or the degree in Visual Art through the University of Suffolk at East Coast College.

The need for greater drawing skills in those entering employment has been identified by a range of industries in the creative sector including; animation, film, architecture, art practice, design and communication industries.
