Level 1 hair and beauty students from East Coast College hosted a complementary pamper day for adults with learning disabilities from Leading Lives; an award winning social enterprise which provides social care support for people in the home and in the community across Suffolk and neighbouring counties.

The event was held in Visions salon at the Great Yarmouth campus which students decorated with a banner and balloons.

They gave hair treatments to the clients in the morning and manicures, hand massage, make-up and facials in the afternoon. The hair and beauty students teamed up with catering students to provide a lunch so that clients got a full day of VIP treatment.

Students are required to carry out work experience or community work as part of their course. This group researched and chose to help Leading Lives to allow people to experience a day of luxury treatments which is something they may not normally get to do.

Tutor Lynne Bellward said “every detail of the day was strategically planned by students and the clients all left feeling refreshed and happy with their very own ‘thank you’ card and small gift”.
