Do you dream of being on stage, screen or working behind the scenes? This course is perfect for those with a passion for performing and an interest in a future performance or a production-based career in the incredibly diverse industry.

Our Performing Arts course offers specialist training in all aspects of acting, dance and singing. Although all areas of performing arts are covered in lesson time, you will be encouraged to work to your strengths and career aspirations alongside developing new and existing skills.

You will learn and develop acting, voice skills and techniques across a number of drama styles and genres. You will also prepare and develop solo material for auditions for progression to stage schools and universities. You will also learn some technical theatre training for those interested in scenic design, lighting and sound.

Why study with us?

  • We offer fantastic facilities with an in-house theatre and dance studio.
  • Regular trips to professional productions both locally and in London’s West End.
  • You will benefit from workshops with top working professional practitioners from the West End and beyond.

Requirements

For Level 2 entry, you will need to have achieved at least two GCSEs at grade 3 or above ideally including English and maths. You will also be invited to complete an audition.

For Level 3 entry, you will need to have achieved at least four GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and maths. You will also be invited to complete an audition.

Please note these entry grades are set as a guide, and students who are interested in this course and able to complete a successful audition will be considered.

Assessment

You will be assessed through both practical and theory based assignment work often built into performance projects covering a range of different performing arts disciplines.

Progression

You can progress into higher education, specialist stage schools or employment.

Many of our former students have studied at Guildford School of Acting, Italia Conti, Rose Bruford, East 15, Chichester Conservatoire, MetFilm School, The Brighton Academy and ArtsEd. Other areas of employment could include directing, choreography, teaching, arts administration and performance production.

"Working with the students from East Coast College is a real delight, because not only do they benefit from the invaluable experience of performing in a real live working theatre, our audiences genuinely love coming out to support our local young performers. We always look forward to welcoming them back."
