This course offers you the chance to study a diploma in sports alongside coaching and development training with Norwich City Community Sports Foundation – the official charity of Norwich City Football Club.

For those looking to pursue a career in “something sporty”, this programme will give you a wide ranging insight across the full sector, while achieving industry recognised qualifications. You will work towards the NCFE Extended Diploma in Sport, the equivalent of three A Levels, and will cover a variety of units linked directly to potential career pathways including coaching, teaching and sports development. Alongside these units, you will also complete additional sporting qualifications with the Community Sports Foundation in coaching and sports development.

These qualifications are recognised by sporting industry providers which allows greater variety of progression into your desired sports career.

Requirements

For Level 1 entry, you will ideally need to have achieved a grade 2 in English and maths.

For Level 2 entry, you will need to have achieved at least four GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and maths.

Entry to Level 3 is directly by completion and progression from Level 2.

Assessment

Assessment will be through the successful completion of a portfolio of evidence. Evidence will be generated through:

  • Practical assessments
  • Demonstrations
  • Group assessments
  • Self-reflection
  • Written assessments

Progression

You can progress onto the FdSc/BSc (Hons) Sport, Health and Exercise degree through the University of Suffolk at East Coast College or other universities.

You can also progress into employment in careers such as a sports coach, sports development officer, sports psychologist, sports analyst, sports nutritionist, personal trainer and more.
